Made with premium Japanese Hojicha from Kyoto, our Hojicha Basque Cheesecake brings together the richness of cheesecake with the warm, roasted character of one of Japan’s most comforting teas.
What is Hojicha?
Hojicha is a Japanese green tea that is roasted at high temperature, giving it a distinctive toasted aroma and a deep amber-brown colour. Unlike the fresh, grassy character of matcha, hojicha is known for its warm, mellow flavour with nutty, roasted notes and a gentle caramel-like aroma.
Hojicha is also typically lower in caffeine than matcha, making it a gentler choice for those who enjoy tea flavour without as much caffeine.
Expect an ultra-smooth, creamy centre, a beautifully caramelised exterior and a generous hojicha flavour that is deeply roasted, fragrant and wonderfully comforting.
Designed in the Yururi style, it is rich yet balanced, creamy but not heavy, and deliberately not too sweet — allowing the natural nutty, roasted aroma of the hojicha to take centre stage.
